Abstract

Artificial intelligence (AI) has become an important driver of technological innovation, economic transformation, and regional development. Its application creates opportunities to improve productivity, optimize public administration, strengthen regional competitiveness, and support evidence-based strategic planning. This article examines the role of artificial intelligence in promoting innovation and socio-economic development, with particular attention to regional planning and territorial disparities. The study employs a qualitative analytical approach based on a review of academic and institutional literature. At the same time, the analysis highlights challenges related to digital inequality, insufficient infrastructure, limited technological skills, data protection, and algorithmic bias. Particular attention is given to the opportunities for integrating AI into regional development strategies in Uzbekistan. It concludes that integrating AI into regional development strategies requires coordinated investment in digital infrastructure, education, innovation ecosystems, and responsible data governance.
